Unlike the short read data produced by next-gen sequencing technologies that utilize sequencing-by-synthesis (SBS), each Nabsys positional sequencing run involves detection of single molecules with many small segments of sequence that are ordered over distances that can range to as high as 100s of kilobases. The location of each segment of sequence is captured along with its identity, greatly facilitating sequence assembly while dramatically reducing data burden.  Positional sequencing can be used to effectively analyze the full scale of DNA variation, from single base changes to large structural variants and chromosomal aneuploidies – all on the same system, and if desired, all at once.  It has never before been possible to analyze DNA repetition and variation over such long distances with such speed and accuracy.
